Kumbh Mela (कुंभ मेला):

Kumbh Mela is the greatest pilgrimage and festival in the Hindu religion. Kumbh is organized at four locations in India, and one of them is Prayagraj, situated at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.

कुंभ मेला हिंदू धर्म का सबसे बड़ा तीर्थ और त्यौहार है। भारत में कुंभ का आयोजन चार स्थानों पर किया जाता है, और उनमें से एक प्रयागराज है, जो गंगा, यमुना और सरस्वती नदियों के संगम पर स्थित है।

LARGEST GATHERING AT ONE PLACE:

Kumbh Festival is one of the largest gathering in world. Millions people come for one purpose that is to attend the highest goal of life Salvation or moksha. This festival last for 30 to 45 days on the banks of Ganges in Haridwar and PrayagRaj ( Allahabad). Millions of devotee stay for over 30 days( kalpvas ). Government provide free water, electricity and tents. This city has temporary hospitals, police station, fire station. At any given of time over 10 million people stay and for special days like shahi snan count cross 100 million mark.

Kumb Mela 2025 admin team is headed by Uttar Pradesh CM and they are planning to make this festival once in life time experience for devotees.

कुंभ महोत्सव दुनिया के सबसे बड़े समागमों में से एक है। लाखों लोग एक ही उद्देश्य से आते हैं, वह है जीवन के सर्वोच्च लक्ष्य मोक्ष की प्राप्ति। यह महोत्सव हरिद्वार और प्रयागराज (इलाहाबाद) में गंगा के तट पर 30 से 45 दिनों तक चलता है। लाखों भक्त 30 दिनों से अधिक समय तक (कल्पवास) रहते हैं। सरकार मुफ्त पानी, बिजली और टेंट उपलब्ध कराती है। इस शहर में अस्थायी अस्पताल, पुलिस स्टेशन, फायर स्टेशन हैं। किसी भी समय 1 करोड़ से अधिक लोग रहते हैं और शाही स्नान जैसे विशेष दिनों के लिए गिनती 10 करोड़ का आंकड़ा पार कर जाती है। कुंभ मेला 2025 की प्रशासनिक टीम का नेतृत्व उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री कर रहे हैं और वे इस उत्सव को भक्तों के लिए जीवन में एक बार होने वाला अनुभव बनाने की योजना बना रहे हैं।

Cultural Significance

Maha Kumbh organized every 12 years, attracting participants from around the globe to take a dip in the holy waters of Ganga, Yamuna and the mystical Saraswati.
According to mythology, 4 drops of the nectar that came out of the churning of the ocean fell at 4 places, one of them was Prayagraj.
According to the belief of the people, taking a bath in the Sangam washes away sins and attains salvation.
The Kumbh here is considered significant, as it marks the direction of knowledge or light.
People from all over the country and abroad come here to bathe, and people of all castes and religions participate in one way or the other in the fair held here.

• Temporary City Setup: Maha Kumbh Nagar had been transformed into a temporary city with thousands of tents and shelters, including super deluxe accommodations like the IRCTC's "Maha Kumbh Gram" luxury tent city, which offers deluxe tents and villas with modern amenities.

• Roads and Bridges:

o Renovation of 92 roads and beautification of 17 major roads

o Construction of 30 pontoon bridges using 3,308 pontoons.

• Signage for Navigation: A total of 800 multi-language signages (Hindi, English, and regional languages) were installed to guide visitors.

• Public Utilities: Over 2,69,000 checkered plates had been laid for pathways. Mobile toilets and robust waste management systems ensured hygiene.

Medical Facilities at Maha Kumbh

The Maha Kumbh 2025 witnessed an extensive medical setup to ensure the well-being of millions of devotees. With over 2,000 medical personnel deployed across the Mela area, the Uttar Pradesh government implemented high-tech healthcare services in every sector. From minor treatments to major surgeries, all medical needs were addressed efficiently.

Security Measures

Security at Maha Kumbh 2025 had been strengthened through a seven-tier system with AI-powered surveillance, a vast deployment of personnel, and emergency response mechanisms. Over 50,000 security personnel, including paramilitary forces, 14,000 home guards, and 2,750 AI-based CCTV cameras, had been deployed. Enhanced measures included drone and underwater surveillance, cyber security, and river safety. Fire safety infrastructure had been expanded with specialized vehicles and firefighting stations. Lost and Found centers used digital registration and social media updates to reunite missing persons with their families.

1. Surveillance and Law Enforcement

• AI & Drone Monitoring: 2,750 AI-powered cameras, drones, anti-drones, and tethered drones for real-time tracking.

• Underwater Drones: First-time deployment for 24/7 river surveillance, operating up to 100 meters deep.

• Checkpoints & Intelligence Squads: Screening at multiple entry points, hotel and vendor inspections, and patrols.

• Seven-Tier Security System: Layered protection from the outer perimeter to the inner sanctum.

• ₹131.48 crore allocated for fire safety, ensuring the deployment of:

o 351 firefighting vehicles.

o 50+ fire stations and 20 fire posts.

o Four Articulating Water Towers (AWT) equipped with thermal cameras, reaching 35 meters in height.

o Over 2,000 trained fire personnel.

o Fire safety equipment installed in all tent settlements.

• अग्नि सुरक्षा के लिए ₹131.48 करोड़ आवंटित किए गए, जिससे निम्नलिखित की तैनाती सुनिश्चित होगी:

3. Emergency & Disaster Response

• Multi-Disaster Response Vehicles: Equipped with lifting bags (10-20 tonnes), rescue tools, and victim location cameras.

• Remote-Controlled Life Buoys: Deployed for immediate water rescue operations.

• Incident Response System (IRS): Ensures swift emergency handling through a coordinated command structure.

More than 65 crore devotees have visited the Maha Kumbh Nagar. To ensure that such a large number of devotees are well-informed, the Uttar Pradesh government had decided to utilize every platform, including print, digital, and social media. Cyber experts have been actively monitoring online threats and investigating gangs exploiting platforms such as AI, Facebook, X, and Instagram. A mobile cyber team was also deployed for large-scale public awareness campaigns.

Special cyber security arrangements were initiated to safeguard devotees from across the globe:

• Deployment of 56 dedicated cyber warriors and experts for cyber patrolling.

• Establishment of a Maha Kumbh cyber police station to counter cyber threats like fraudulent websites, social media scams, and fake links.

• 40 Variable Messaging Displays (VMDs) installed in both the fair area and the commissionerates for raising awareness about cyber threats.

The Uttar Pradesh government had deployed 1200 additional buses on 12 February 2025, supplementing the 3050 already allocated for Maha Kumbh 2025. Special shuttle services had also been arranged to enhance intra-city transportation.

• Buses were available every 10 minutes at four temporary bus stations.

• 750 shuttle buses were operating every 2 minutes for intra-city connectivity.

Prayagraj Airport underwent significant modernization to support the large influx of devotees during the Maha Kumbh Mahotsav from January 13 to February 26, 2025. Expansion efforts improved connectivity, capacity, and passenger services, ensuring a seamless travel experience. To ensure seamless travel for tourists attending the Maha Kumbh, the Ministry of Tourism had partnered with Alliance Air to enhance air connectivity to Prayagraj from multiple cities across India.

A large-scale arrangement for clean and pure drinking water has been made for millions of pilgrims coming from across the country and abroad at the Maha Kumbh:

• Over 40 lakh pilgrims benefited from these Water ATMs between January 21 and February 1, 2025.

Akharas at Maha Kumbh

In Maha Kumbh 2025, the Akharas played a significant role, representing various traditions and sects of Sanatan Dharma. The word 'Akhara' originates from 'Akhand,' meaning indivisible. These religious institutions have existed since the 6th century during the time of Adi Guru Shankaracharya and have been the custodians of spiritual practices and rituals at the Kumbh Mela.

A total of 13 Akharas participated in this Maha Kumbh, including the Kinnar Akhara, Dashnam Sannyasini Akhara, and Mahila Akhara, symbolizing gender equality and a progressive outlook. The grand processions and sacred rituals of the Akharas were among the main attractions of the event, inspiring millions of devotees toward spiritual growth, discipline, and unity.

These institutions not only preserved the spiritual and cultural values of Sanatan Dharma but also embraced modern sensibilities by promoting inclusivity and equality. The presence of the Akharas at Maha Kumbh fostered unity across caste, religion, and cultural diversity, making the event a symbol of spiritual and cultural enrichment.

महाकुंभ में अखाड़े

महाकुंभ 2025 में अखाड़ों ने सनातन धर्म की विभिन्न परंपराओं और संप्रदायों का प्रतिनिधित्व करते हुए महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई। 'अखाड़ा' शब्द 'अखंड' से निकला है, जिसका अर्थ है अविभाज्य। ये धार्मिक संस्थाएँ 6वीं शताब्दी से आदि गुरु शंकराचार्य के समय से अस्तित्व में हैं और कुंभ मेले में आध्यात्मिक प्रथाओं और अनुष्ठानों के संरक्षक रहे हैं।

इस महाकुंभ में कुल 13 अखाड़ों ने भाग लिया, जिसमें किन्नर अखाड़ा, दशनाम संन्यासिनी अखाड़ा और महिला अखाड़ा शामिल हैं, जो लैंगिक समानता और प्रगतिशील दृष्टिकोण का प्रतीक हैं। अखाड़ों के भव्य जुलूस और पवित्र अनुष्ठान इस आयोजन के मुख्य आकर्षणों में से थे, जिन्होंने लाखों भक्तों को आध्यात्मिक विकास, अनुशासन और एकता की ओर प्रेरित किया।

इन संस्थाओं ने न केवल सनातन धर्म के आध्यात्मिक और सांस्कृतिक मूल्यों को संरक्षित किया, बल्कि समावेशिता और समानता को बढ़ावा देकर आधुनिक संवेदनाओं को भी अपनाया। महाकुंभ में अखाड़ों की उपस्थिति ने जाति, धर्म और सांस्कृतिक विविधता के बीच एकता को बढ़ावा दिया, जिससे यह आयोजन आध्यात्मिक और सांस्कृतिक समृद्धि का प्रतीक बन गया।

More than 66 Crores peoples reached mahakumbh prayagraj 2025

The responsibility of serving the crores of people who reached Prayagraj filled with devotion and became a part of this Maha Kumbh of unity in the biggest pilgrimage and festival of Hindus was fulfilled. The people of Prayagraj and the government and administration of Uttar Pradesh together made this Maha Kumbh of unity a success. Everyone here was a servant filled with devotion. Our policemen, army personnel, sweepers, sailors, drivers, food cooks, storekeepers, university and competitive students living here, and all the friends of Prayagraj worked continuously with full devotion and service and made this Maha Kumbh a success. The way the residents of Prayagraj served all the devotees coming here by bearing all the troubles in these 45 days and keeping their minds and emotions calm is incomparable. All the residents of Prayagraj deserve thanks. Being a resident here, I personally congratulate the government and the people here.

हिंदुओं का सबसे बड़े तीर्थ और त्योहार मे श्रद्धा से भरे जो करोड़ों लोग प्रयाग पहुँचकर इस एकता के महाकुंभ का हिस्सा बने, उनकी सेवा का दायित्व सम्पन्न हुआ । प्रयागराज की जनता और उत्तरप्रदेश के शासन, प्रशासन ने मिलकर, इस एकता के महाकुंभ को सफल बनाया। यहाँ का हर कोई श्रद्धा भाव से भरा सेवक था। हमारे पुलिसकर्मी, सेना के जवान, सफाईकर्मी, नाविक, वाहन चालक, भोजन बनाने वाले, भंडार खिलाने वाले, विश्वविद्यालय और यहाँ रह रहे प्रतियोगी छात्र और प्रयागराज के सभी साथियों ने पूरी श्रद्धा और सेवा भाव से निरंतर काम करके इस महाकुंभ को सफल बनाया। विशेषकर, प्रयागराज के निवासियों ने इन 45 दिनों में तमाम परेशानियों को उठाकर अपने मन और भाव को शांत रखकरजिस तरह आने वाले सारे श्रद्धालुओं की सेवा की है , वह अतुलनीय है। प्रयागराज के सभी निवासी धन्यवाद के पात्र हैं । यहाँ का निवासी होने के नाते मै सरकार और यहाँ की जनता का व्यक्तिगत अभिनंदन करता हूं।
